FAQ's

Are your coffee capsules recyclable?

Yes – We have ensured that all aspects of our coffee capsules and packaging are environmentally friendly. Specifically, our packaging is made from recyclable cardboard and our capsules are made from recyclable Polypropylene #5 and aluminium foil.

To recycle:

  • Peel off capsule lid and pop out base

  • Empty grinds into compost

  • Rinse lid, base and cup and place into Council recycling

Should some capsules end up in landfill, the materials are chemically inert and do not contain any nasties that contaminate ground water or cause the release of noxious gases.

Are Tuatahi Coffee capsules Nespresso compatible?

Yes  -  and we guarantee it!  If your machine works with Nespresso® coffee capsules then it will also work with ours. Not only have our coffee capsules been specifically designed to be compatible with Nespresso® but they have also been thoroughly tested in Nespresso® machines including Breville and De’Longhi capsule machines.

Are Coffee Pods the same as Coffee Capules?

Although the terms are often used interchangeably in NZ they are actually very different items. Click to view of the differences.

How much does shipping cost?

When you check out your order you must provide your delivery location and the freight fee will be listed prior to finalising your order.  Freight pricing reflects the actual cost of freight depending on where you are located in New Zealand relative to our factory in Auckland.

If you are a considerable distance from Auckland we have made it easier for you to minimise your costs by offering FREE shipping for all orders over $110.

How fast is delivery?

We aim for next day dispatch on all orders but due to the roasting schedule and courier pickups this is not always achievable.

Once in the hands of the courier, North Island deliveries are over night to major centres, plus 1 additional day for rural delivery. South Island deliveries will take 2-3 days to major centres, plus 1 additional day for rural delivery.

Which Tuatahi blend is best as an Espresso?

Although this really comes down to personal preference, if you love your espresso we suggest Koki as it is a bold dark roast that leaves a lingering sweet after-taste.

Which Tuatahi blend is best for a Flat White?

Once again personal preference is key. Our most popular blends for Flat White have proven to be Koki and TiakiWhen making a milk-based drink it's important that the blend chosen has the oomph for its flavour to cut through the taste of the milk.

How can you sell such amazing coffee at such a good price?

Our focus and investment goes into making great coffee rather than fancy packaging and advertising. Through good old Kiwi ingenuity we maximize our packaging plant's efficiency, use non flashy recyclable packaging and run our operation on the smell of an oily rag; all without compromising quality.  Isn't that what you'd expect from a local manufacturer?

Why should I buy Tuatahi Coffee capsules over imported capsules?

Here are just a few reasons:

  • Freshness: Coffee is best fresh, no matter if it's beans, plunger-ground or in a capsule  There are many capsules bearing local brand names that suggest they may be from New Zealand... but look more closely and you may find that they have actually been imported.  Don't be fooled - you will not find fresher capsule coffee in NZ than Tuatahi capsules.

  • Taste Profile: Our blends are specifically tailored to the Kiwi tastes and roasted specifically for the NZ palate.

  • Purposefully Slower Pour: We carefully grind and fill our capsules to ensure a slow pour, allowing for optimal extraction of the blend's subtle character. Don't worry if our pour is slower than other brands—it means you'll experience better extraction and a richer crema. Good things take time!

  • Local Jobs: We support our local economy by keeping jobs in NZ; not just jobs in coffee roasting, but mechanical and electrical engineering, IT, and processing. Why go off shore when the expertise and innovation is right here?

  • Sustainability: Have you ever heard of "carbon miles"? Whether by road, rail, air, or boat, we don't want to see beans shipped to additional countries purely for encapsulating and packaging purposes. Sustainability is all about consuming close to source as much as possible.
